Lingq known words: 104

This is my third entry on my journey to learning Korean.

Since my last entry, I had "almost" a full streak for the month of June. The few days that I did miss arguably somewhat counted, but I decided to not include it.

I went on a trip to San Franciso, and didn't have any time at all to study Korean. However, I was on the trip with some Koreans who were occasionally speaking in Korean. I didn't really understand anything except a few words here and there, so I'm not counting it.

At this point I've tried a few different methods for learning Korean. Pimsleur, Anki, Lingq and Language Reactor. In my personal opinion, I like Lingq the most. I bought a yearly subscription for it about a week ago and I really enjoy how it teaches Korean. It allows you to watch videos and see the words in context of the video. You can go line by line and clearly and easily translate the words. As you learn the words, they turn a different color. Allowing you to see the words that you've already been exposed to. This in-and-of itself kind of helps with recall for me.

For the others, I think they have their place, but at my current phase in learning Korean, I like Lingq the best. Additionally, I am planning on trying out a bunch of Korean tutors this month. I'll make sure to write up a bit on what I liked about them and what I didn't like about them, and whether or not I think it is worth it at this point (being almost a complete beginner).

My wonderful girlfriend will also be very helpful in practicing a bit of what I know and asking questions about specific words or phrases :)

I think as a part of this, I'll begin putting up the LingQ "Known Words" metric at the top of each of these. This is kind of a general idea of the words I know, probably divided by 2 considering how Lingq does Korean words. Each word has 5 different levels of "understanding". Once you get to 4 or 5, it is "Known". Most of my words at this point are between 1 and 3, so they aren't "Known". I expect this to increase fairly quickly until I reach the actual limit I'm at.
