Lingq known words: 485
This is my eighth entry on my journey to learning Korean.
It has been a while since my last entry. I've been continuing to do Korean lessons almost every week. I will usually do one or two per week, with the occasional third. This week I wasn't able to because of some events and Halloween and everything, but I'm starting it up again next week.
As you can see, I have not been doing Lingq that often recently. I think my difference between this entry and last was less than 50 words. That doesn't mean I haven't been learning some words though. In fact, when I did use Lingq, I actually recognized a few words that weren't "learned" yet. I occasionally do it, but I've kind of fallen off. I think I should get back into doing it, at least a couple times a week.
Recently between classes I've done a few things. Either I will listen to Pimsleur for a bit, or I will review my notes from the last class, or I will do some Anki flash cards. I try to do at least some Korean every day, even if it isn't the most efficient way to learn. Which I honestly think is a two edged sword. Because I do something every day, but I'm not actually learning stuff. I'm kind of just going through the motions until I get back to my class where I actually learn stuff. Like I said in my last lesson, I think I need to do a bit more of textbook work to supplement my in person lessons. And I need to review stuff that I have trouble with.
Speaking of that though I recently had a breakthrough. The word for bicycle 자전거 has been killing me. I couldn't remember it for the life of me. Then I tried something new. I asked ChatGPT to give me mneumonic to remember it. And the mneumonic was "Ja! John Goes on his bicycle." Surprisingly, that actually worked! I was able to remember it! I need to utilize ChatGPT to give me mneumonics for more words. Korean is very hard for me to remember for some reason, so, I need all of the help I can get.
